Daily Photos 5th year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my FIFTH year. It's been an enjoyable three years viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries

Harsh Javeri: A Retrospective

Some of our best memories of him involve his ready camera and readier smile. Always on hand to capture a moment in the making, a wonder of nature or an architectural marvel, Harsh Javeri chronicled the world around him, and through that, the world around us. He would’ve turned 70 on 15th October 2019, an occasion he’d have marked with much pomp and splendour. What better way to celebrate the life and times of a man so gifted, so full of life and so impactful on ours, than to pay tribute through a lifetime of his photography.

Harsh Javeri: A Retrospective is a selection of his works over the years. It will be held from October 15th to 20th, 2019 in Mumbai at the Piramal Art Gallery, NCPA.
Do join us anytime in that week to celebrate this occasion.
These images bring back fantastic memories of a wonderful guy that I never met, but regarded as a friend through the Smugmug Dailies. Harsh was always a generous commenter on my work, and his constructive criticism was more than welcome.

Jay, seeing his face on this page brings back so many memories. He was a wonderful photographer and I felt my friend. He always offered valuable comments on photos. I learned so much from him. He was so very kind and helpful. Like Linda stated, if he saw something that he felt his knowledge would make your photography better, he would contact me personally. I am thankful I was able to have him as part of my photography growth.
I wish I could be at the exhibition. I know it will be amazing. Harsh, know many of us miss you very often!

Jay, I wanted to add my thoughts here about the wonderful man that your father was. Not only was he a kind, loving and special man that all SmugMugger's of that time adored, but he was a magnificent photographer. I recall his helpful hints on my photos. When I really flubbed one, he would write me a personal email with his insights and thoughts of how to improve the photo. He would never give negative comments in public, yet he was so kind to give constructive criticism in private. I appreciated him tremendously for that. I often still think of him today, and wish that I had his wise council today. I know the exhibition will be a smashing success. I just wish I could be there. Harsh was a true jewel and a gift to the world. Rest in Peace Harsh and know that you are missed by many.

I remember your father's comments on my photos, but more importantly, I remember the ones he so fondly and affectionately shared of his beloved family. His photography skills were very inspiring to me, as I was a newcomer to the Daily Photos Community, as it was referred to then.

This is quite a moving and well-deserved tribute to a father who was unquestionably loved his family, was loved by his family, loved sharing photography advice with fellow photographers, which made him endearing to the Daily Photos Community, as it was referred to then.

    Rest in peace, Harsh!

Wonderful retrospective Jay! Your dad was a great photographer and I am sad that I will miss the exhibition, but I did so enjoy looking at the slide show you put together with many of his excellent photo that I still remember.

Jay, your father was such a talented photographer, but an even more wonderful human being. That came through clearly not just in his images, but in his interactions with fellow photographers that he shared so generously. I was so glad that Linda alerted us to your planned exhibition of your father's photos. I know it will be a splendid success. Your father, wherever he is, is surely smiling. I miss him. He was special.

Harsh's son Jay posted this. October 15 would have been Harsh's 70th birthday. I wish I could attend. But know that I sure miss this dear man and his wonderful photography.
