Mangoes!
Mango stall at Crawford Market (Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Mandai)
In India summer means Mangoes! India is the largest producer of Mangoes and they come in different varieties. Alphonso, Benishaan or Benisha and Kesar mango varieties are considered among the best mangoes in India's southern states, while Dussehri and Langda varieties are most popular in the northern states.
Ripe mangoes are typically eaten fresh while 'Aamras' is a popular pulp/thick juice made of mangoes with and is eaten with chapattis, rice or pooris. Sour, unripe mangoes are used in chutneys, pickles, or side dishes, or may be eaten raw with salt, chili, or soy sauce. A cooling summer drink called panna or panha comes from mangoes.

on June 16, 2011Love the comp and color on this. Also, I'm a mango fanatic! It is hard to get the big, sweet ones here. We seem to get the smaller, not so sweet kind.
