Daily photos 3rd year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my THIRD year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Second year - Critiques welcome!

House no 47

Khotachiwadi is a heritage village in Girgaum, Mumbai, India. Houses built are made from the old-Portuguese style architecture with trellised balconies and latticed windows. It was founded in the late 18th century by Khot,a Pathare prabhu, who sold plots of land to local East Indian families. There used to be 65 of these houses, now reduced to 28 as old buildings are being pulled down to make way for new skyscrapers.
Footwear!

Chor Bazaar, located near Bhendi Bazaar in South Mumbai, is one of the largest flea markets in India. The word Chor means "thief" in Hindi-Urdu. The reason it is known as "thief's market", is because it assumed that goods sold there are stolen. There's a saying about this area, if you lose anything in Mumbai you can buy it back from the "chor bazaar"! Most of proper shops are closed on Friday as this area is in the heartland of one of the largest Muslim populations in Mumbai.

Chor Bazar is a maze of streets with shops that look like musty attics and sell just about anything at bargain prices from old ship parts, grandfather clocks, gramophones, to crystal chandeliers and old English tea sets antiques at throwaway prices, including colonial-era lamps, Art Deco clocks and trinkets of every kind. It's not an easy job to shop here as one has to rummage through a lot of stuff, including junk and then set about bargaining.
Zari work, Udaipur
Best seen in large size.

Zari is a type of thread made of fine gold or silver wire used in traditional Indian and Pakistani garments. This thread is woven into fabrics, primarily made of silk to create intricate patterns. It is believed this tradition started during the Mughal era. Today, in most fabrics, zari is not made of real gold and silver, but has cotton or polyester yarn at its core, wrapped by golden/silver metallic yarn.
BEST SEEN IN LARGE SIZE
While having lunch at Paantya, a multi-cuisine restaurant at Shiv Nivas palace, I noticed the glasses on the next table... they reflected the ground and buidlings one floor below.

Required quite a bit of 'cleaning' as it was raining and the window was splattered with drops.
Jewelery shop , Udaipur

Udaipur is famous for it's silver jewelery and that's where the ladies took us along! The old sarees & jewelery shops had this kind of comfortable mattress seating arrangements, probably encouraging the women to lounge there the whole day!

Since many years sitting on mattresses is common not only in shops but also in homes. No bulky furniture, easy to clean, can accommodate more people and one can lie down if tired! :-)

Busy street, Udaipur

A typical scene in small town! Narrow street with shops on both sides, people, cars, two-wheelers AND animals! The lady in yellow was taking the mules to deliver cement bags.
Built in a flamboyant style by the Maharana Udai Mirza Singh as the capital of the Sisodia Rajput clan in 1559 is considered the largest of its type in Rajasthan, a fusion of the Rajasthani and Mughal architectural styles.
