Daily photos 3rd year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my THIRD year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Second year - Critiques welcome!

It's daughter Vinati's birthday today! Yesterday we had a lunch party at the Food Court of a mall. Over thirty of her work colleagues and caretakers attended and they all had a great time! You may recall that Vini's a downs syndrome child and is currently working at a sheltered workshop for handicapped women. Today she finishes 27 years...

The beach in foreground is known as Girgaum Chowpatty beach from where I've taken quite a few pictures. Left of the beach is Marine drive. In the olden days of gas lights, the circular road used to twinkle in the dark and hence it became famous as the Queen's necklace. The cluster of buildings on right is known as Walkeshwar and ends with the Governor's residence at the end.
Bubbles 2

Thank you for your comments on my yesterday's picture. This is the same man but taken head-on with the light on his right. The background is one of the posters hung up on the wall behind him and thought it added a bit of a drama to the shot!

ADDED: The man was selling the kit for making bubbles, the liquid in a bottle and a simple contraption to blow the bubbles.
The Kala Ghoda Arts Festival is an annual festival, usually around nine days long, held in late January or early February, in the Kala Ghoda area of South Mumbai, India. The Festival is organised by the Kala Ghoda Association (a non-profit organisation that states its objectives as "physically upgrading the Kala Ghoda sub-precinct and making it the Art District of Mumbai") and curated by teams handling each of the sub-festivals. The sub-festivals feature the visual arts, dance, music, theatre, cinema, literature, lectures, seminars and workshops, heritage walks, special events for children, and a vibrant street festival. Entry to all events is free to all (only restricted by the size of the venues) and costs are met through corporate sponsorship.
http://www.kalaghodaassociation.com/OpinionPollAns.aspx
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kala_Ghoda_Arts_Festiva
