Leaf
D300 ISO 400 f8 1/640

This was shot at Ahmedabad with Tamron 90mm. What struck me was the shadow on the leaf plus the side lighting. The 'band'
on the left is a small twig that has picked up a rim light being against the light and out-of-focus. The red ant on the edge and little pods add to the whole picture.

NO PP except for a slight crop and curve adjustment
++++++++++ NOTE ++++++++++
Hello friends. I have not been able to check the Daily pics and know it's my loss. Last week I was at Kerala to attend the wedding of my niece's daughter and got back on Tuesday evening. Jay & Lakshmi's visa for Italy was delayed and there was mad rush but finally it came through and they left on Wednesday night. All this and the pics from Jay's wedding plus the Kerela pics are keeping me BUSY. I hope to get back online in a couple of days. Take care!
Entrance
D300 17-55mm ISO200 f8 at 1/125

This is the entrance to my house a day before the wedding when we had some ceremonies at home. Swarup had got strings of Marigold which were put on the railing and the pillars and a 'toran' of flowers to put between the pillars. Another 'toran' was put up at the door itself.

The little fella sitting there is Dash, our family member, wondering what I was doing out of the house without taking him along!

I had put up a pic of the same entrance during Jay's engagement time and you can see the difference: the place is painted and the paint from the doors is removed and the doors look rich with the polish. The old pic is here:
Toran
D300 17-55mm ISO200 f5.6 at 1/15 - hand held - no PP

This is detail of the 'toran' made from flowers at the door to our house. On top is a traditional 'toran' with beads. The full entrance pic was put up yesterday.

The toran was changed on the day of the wedding. I was not allowed to hold a camera that day :-) but you can see someone else's shot here:
Peep!
D300 18-105mm ISO400 f8 at 1/125

During my visit to Kerala a few days back, we visited Kottayam, a small town. It has an old Shiva temple and in the complex there were some other smaller temples too. I noticed this one with the oil lamp and just when I brought the camera to the eye, I saw this cat peeping out! Apparently it had gone in to share (grab) some of the sweetmeats offerings!

============ NOTE ================
I have been having a back pain and the doc said it has to do with the spine! I am to take bed rest for 3-4 days and then report back to him for further treatment. I will try and keep up with my daily uploads but please excuse my lack of comments. :-(
Shot this with Tamron 90mm at Ahmedabad, a beauty of a lens!

------------- NOTE -------------
The back is slightly better but the pain comes up badly at times. Spending a few minutes here to have a quick look at the offerings so pl excuse if I can't comment on so many other lovely shots.
This open lounge with a colonial look offered a beautiful view plus homely comforts with books, board games etc.

This was a difficult shot. The sitting area, the roof and the garden view, all three had different light levels and had to control them PP.
Pool Kahanda Kanda
D300 ISO 400 f6.3 1/600 17-55 2.8 lens

The infinity pool offered tranquil water and surroundings. This was another difficult shot with the sun shining into the lens but I think I managed to keep it behind the tree. As we were just visiting the place all the shots were taken while on a 'tour' of the place.
Kalaripayattu
D300 ISO 400 f5.6 1/60 18-105mm lens

Kalaripayattu - The Orient's treasure trove, a gift to the modern world and the mother of all martial arts. Legend traces the 3000-year-old art form to Sage Parasurama- the master of all martial art forms and credited to be the re-claimer of Kerala from the Arabian Sea. Kalaripayattu originated in ancient South India. Kung- fu, popularized by the monks of the Shoaling Temple traces its ancestry to Bodhi Dharma - an Indian Buddhist monk and Kalaripayattu master.
