Daily Photos 4th year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my FOURTH year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Second year - Third year - Critiques welcome!

Free show

I shot this yesterday in my HTC Sensation phone while on way back home. There were a row of TVs showing a Cricket match between West Indies and India and people were engrossed in watching it.

This was shot on way to Alibag where we'd gone for a weekend.

Got back yesterday, apart from the wedding functions, there was quite a bit of work and also three subjects to shoot! A Cousin's great-grand kid, a Macaw and Frisky (you will recall his pics when he was a pup!) Will try and catch up on the comments!

Boxes on Steps at Babulnath temple
People light oil lamps and put prayer offerings in the boxes on each step.

The temple was originally built in 1780 and a tall spire was added in 1900. It's in the heart of the city on a small hill at about 1000 ft. above sea level.

ADDED later . It's a steep climb to the main temple on top but for a small fee one can use an elevator.

This temple is near my house and I'd taken some pics which I'd shared a while back. We (Sharookh, Darshan & myself) visited the temple again early this month.
Chitrakoot waterfalls
Pano from 10 images Best viewed in XLarge size
Chitrakoot Falls, also called Niagara falls of India; are located 38 km (24 mi) from Jagdalpur in state of Chitrakoot which also happens to a religious pilgrimage of Hindus. River Indravati falls from a height of 29 m (96 ft) to form this waterfall and it widens upto 150 meters (492 ft) during monsoon and thta's why they are also known as the Niagara falls of India. The shape of the waterfall is like a horse-shoe and the water color changes from season to season. In monsoon because of silt it turns a little brown in shade whereas in summer it’s white and clear.

Another pano shot and other shots are here:
Friend Sharookh, the Leica man!
This was shot at Kyani restaurant.

Sharookh's fav camera is Leica and he takes great portraits. His one shot is put up in the arrival lounge of Mumbai's airport! He also loves wildlife photography which he covers with his Nikons. You can see some of his pics at Facebook. I'd posted his pic of of Jay, Lakshmi & Anika at the Daily:
This is a closer look at the falls. To spot where they are sitting, check the earlier pic. Best viewed in XLarge size

Tirathgarh Waterfalls are situated at a distance of 29 km. from Jagdalpur in Chattisgarh state. The waterfall is situated in Kanger Valley National Park and the height is approximately 300 ft in stages. This place is a favorite picnic spot, especially for large groups looking for a day-long picnic in a forest. The good season for visiting these waterfalls is from October to February.

Liverpool lunch
Some members of Liverpool football team came to participate in Football Clinic for the underprivileged children. The three days Clinic was organised by Standard Chartered Bank, a supporter of OM Creation, the workshop for developmentally challenged children, where daughter Vinati works. The Bank had asked OM Creation to cater lunch for 200 people for all three days. Vinati is the one with folded hands.

I was there only for a couple of hours but it was good to see that the players were taking the trouble to communicate individually despite the language problem. They were a real friendly lot and ensured that the kids enjoyed while learning the techniques. The ladies from OM Creation met them just before lunch and went back to OM creation after lunch.

At the resort where we had stayed, they had lampposts in the shapes of local tribes. This one shows a turbaned man with a stick.

They have flown down some of the football players from Liverpool, UK for a football clinic, to teach under privileged children. OM Creation is asked to do the lunch catering for three days and I was asked to take some photographs so I've just got back and am running late with work and getting the pics ready so please excuse my lack of comments.

This was shot by son Jay when Anika became one month old on 16th October. The light was dim in the room so we covered her eyes to avoid the flash in her eyes. Have a look at the image in sepia
