Daily Photos 4th year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my FOURTH year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Second year - Third year - Critiques welcome!

It was one of the twelve cities of the Ionian League during the Classical Greek era. In the Roman period and had a population of more than 250,000 in the 1st century BC. The city was famed for the Temple of Artemis (completed around 550 BC), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Emperor Constantine I rebuilt much of the city and erected new public baths.

  • 4th year Pic 220 - Sep - 25 2012. Princess Anika! 1st birthday!
On 16th Anika finished one year! Both sets of grandparents and close family members went for lunch. Anika, dressed like a princess, tossed off her shoes, ran about bare-feet and played with all those present at the restaurant and outside it. We cut a little cake with her and the birthday girl was happiest to be fed all that yummy chocolate by all of us. In all, a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable fuss-free celebration, where Anika the star was just as she's been all this year — happy, excited and playful.

You must check out this hilarious video to appreciate the pic.: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fpSecRtAP5A
Dondurma (Turkish, literally "freezing") is the name given to ice cream in Turkey. It typically includes the ingredients milk, sugar, salep, and mastic. It is believed to originate from the city and region of Maraş and hence also known as Maraş Ice Cream. Two qualities distinguish Turkish ice cream: texture and resistance to melting. Inclusion of the thickening agents salep, a flour made from the root of the Early Purple Orchid, and mastic, a resin that imparts chewiness.

Dondurma is commonly sold from both street vendor's carts and store fronts where the mixture is churned regularly with long-handled paddles to keep it workable. Vendors often tease the customer by serving the ice cream cone on a stick, and then taking away the dondurma with the stick and rotating it around, before finally giving it to the customer.

  • 4th year Pic 218 - Sep - 21 2012. The Police create a riot -
OK, this is not your regular shot of the day but hope you won't mind my sharing it here. This article appeared today in a national daily called Asian Age.

The Police were an English rock band formed in London in 1977. For the vast majority of their history, the band consisted of Sting (lead vocals, bass), Andy Summers (guitar) and Stewart Copeland (drums). The Police became globally popular in the late 1970s and are generally regarded as one of the first New Wave groups to achieve mainstream success, playing a style of rock that was influenced by punk, reggae, and jazz.

If anyone wants a PDF version of the shot can write to me.

Outstanding; wonderful details. I've just finished taking my first serious shots with the D800 and I'm really pleased with the color range and wonderful capture of details. Are you uploading your D800 shots in the largest jpeg size or are you reducing the image size?
