Daily Photos 4th year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my FOURTH year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Second year - Third year - Critiques welcome!

Thai dancer , Chiang Mai, Thailand
Best viewed inlarge size, check out her hands!
There were many Wats (temples) near our hotel which was situated in the old city. This was shot at some kind of a religious festival near 3 Kings monument.

ADDED after John's comment: I've been busy and didn't notice my pic being moved down till I read your comment. Thanks John but what's there to say / do? BTW 3-4 days back I got a number of SPAM comments from one Cynthia (jobe @ http://jobe.smugmug.com)
which I had to go and delete! :(

I am overwhelmed with all the supportive comments and it's nice to know I am not the only late poster! Thank you SO MUCH! I was also happy to note Kara's comment about the bent pole and subsequent reactions to that. This is what I look forward to, constructive criticism & suggestions - best way to learn & improve! My reply: The pole was leaning slightly and I did think about straightening it but kept it as it was since it showed a bit of wear & tear. Thanks you all once again!

Which way? The Gateway Hotel, Coonoor

Friends, I've come to know from a recent remark that my posting 'old' pictures rather than a pic-a-day as expected in the Daily community, is not acceptable. I plead guilty to that but I have my limitations. When we go for a weekly shoot, or when I'm traveling, I take hundreds of shots which obviously take time to process and put up. In fact, I've many pictures taken MONTHS ago which are still awaiting processing. I also do not own a laptop so when I am away, the work piles up. I have felt that it was better I share some good pictures from such lots rather than take a pic everyday, rather difficult with my work and other routines. Not wishing to flout rules, I have decided to post pictures shot only in the last few days, as and when I can.

Art for sale - Sunday Mkt., Ratchadamnoen Road

At the Sunday market there were quite a few stalls selling prints as well as original work.

Every Sunday, from 4pm until midnight, Walking Street Market takes place in the heart of the inner city on Ratchadamnoen Road and covers a distance of over one 1km. Our hotel, Tamarind Village was situated on this road.

The street, which is closed entirely to traffic, is a focal point for local people to meet, browse, socialise, haggle and enjoy. There numbers are considerably swelled by both Thai and foreign visitors to Chiang Mai and the whole area buzzes with the kind of excitement that can only be generated by a large number of people at leisure.
Thank you so much for your comments on my butterfly picture! Here's another one, not sure if it's a moth or what.

Katherine Edison wrote, "Atlas Moth. We have something that looks pretty similar in our Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Museum of Natural History. Such a neat creature!

It is a large saturniid moth found in the tropical and subtropical forests of Southeast Asia, and common across the Malay archipelago. Atlas moths are considered the largest moths in the world Thanks Katherine & DR Photos!!

My work machine was down on Friday and have been busy setting things up again since last two days, what a pain! Will have to catch up with all the great pics of the last few days.
