Daily Photos 4th year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my FOURTH year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Second year - Third year - Critiques welcome!

Hello friends! I have been away for a long time but hope and aim to be here on a daily basis now. Too many things were happening at once and could not cope with posting pictures and commenting on fine work of friends here. I am back at my old office, the renovations are almost over and it's good to be back. After that our whole family took a holiday for 10 days to Singapore. We were seven of us: from my elder sister Urvashi, who stays with us; to Anika! It was a wonderful holiday with the family especially since it was a first trip abroad for the eldest and the youngest! Hope you will enjoy the pictures I'll be putting up. Cheers!

A Bassinet Seat is provided by certain airlines for long duration flights. This one was removable but she was allowed to use it only for sleeping, maybe they didn't want kids to jump out! :-) This pic was taken just when she had just got up.

Special thanks to all those who wrote personally to check about my absence.

Ghoonghat or Ghunghat, also known as jhund is a Hindi word which describes a veil or headscarf worn by South Asian women to cover their head, and often their face. Generally a pallu (the loose end of a sari) is pulled over the head to act as a ghunghat. A dupatta (long scarf) is also sometimes used as a ghungat. In very traditional and rural areas, women use their sari to completely cover the face and neck, concealing their identity to males.

Pamukkale, meaning "cotton castle" in Turkish, is a natural site in Denizli Province in southwestern Turkey. The city contains hot springs and travertines, terraces of carbonate minerals left by the flowing water. Pamukkale is a tourist attraction. It is recognized as a World Heritage Site together with Hierapolis. Pamukkale's terraces are made of travertine, a sedimentary rock deposited by water from the hot springs. There are 17 hot water springs and the water that emerges from the spring is transported 320 metres to the head of the travertine terraces. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pamukkale
