Daily Photos 2nd year

At the Daily Gallery one picture, preferably taken that day; is shared with others. While that is difficult to follow (shooting everyday) I have been putting up a picture everyday and this is my SECOND year. It's been an enjoyable time viewing pictures of other members and learning new techniques and customs from different places. I think this is the best way to travel to places while sitting at home, and also making friends on the way! It has been a pleasure sharing my pictures and I thank all of you for taking the time to comment on my pictures. Earlier galleries: First year - Critiques welcome!

Indian bride
This beautiful lady is my friends' daughter who got married last Monday. Two days ago I had put up a shot of her foot with Mehendi:
To answer Curious Camel:
The bridegroom is holding her hand. Beetle leaf and nut are put in the hands of the bride and then the groom covers her hand with his, making it a 'union' of two people.
This idol of Lord Ganesha was in the porch of the villa at Pawna.
EDIT 24 June
The dog is looking at the idol of Ganesha. The orange band is a garland of marigolds.
A closer shot of the idol shows this better:
Jeff, Lord Ganesha does have head of an Elephant. He is worshiped all over India and you may recall my pictures of the Ganpati Visarjan?
This is my first panorama! Made from 6 frames shot in manual mode. The view of the valley and the lake is from the balcony of the house where we spent the last weekend in Pawna.

Will appreciate a frank appraisal of it...
At the boat house on Pawana lake there was a section with hares, poultry, peacocks and other birds. Thought this made an interesting shot ...
I was a bit shocked at a comment left by someone called 'What' for the Indian bride shot and don't know what to make of it.
Yes, that's a dagger she's holding! Another tradition where the bride keeps a dagger to keep the evil spirits away.
• Groom's arrival
(006 2nd year)
D300 with 18-105mm - no PP except for a bit of crop & colour correction.

In (most) Indian weddings the groom arrives in a procession with his family and friends to the bride's house or the venue of the wedding. Pre automobile days the groom used to arrive on a horse or an elephant. Even today, many people have horses, elephants or buggies to carry the groom. There is music and dancing in front of the procession which gets louder as they near the venue!

This is from the wedding in Kerala with the groom atop an elephant with a man sitting behind him holding a red umbrella. The men in white are dressed in a typical Kerala style and the one in the middle is playing a drum. Another person on the right has a different type of a drum while the person in front of him is holding a wind instrument.

The coloured paper is confetti from a firecracker burst a few seconds before.
Yet another beautiful Indian bride! Dressed in a typical Indian bridal dress, this is my grand niece who got married in Kerala in April. Despite the hot & humid weather she came out near the pool to let me take a few shots.
• Wedding ceremony
(001 2nd year)
no PP except a bit of light control

I have been busy with yet another wedding! My friend's daughter got married yesterday and I took some pics on D300 with 18-105 lens. It was good to hold a camera after so many days! But the back did act up a bit later on! :(

During the ceremony the bride's right foot is "washed " with milk by the mother. You can see the milk under her foot in the silver tray. The design on the leg is from the mehendi applied 2 days ago. The table underneath is silver plated! :)
