Hershy > Mumbai Panorama (Pic 143 2nd year - 28 Oct 2009)

Taken from the rooftop restaurant The Pearl of the Orient at Hotel Ambassador.
This was a difficult shot as the light varied from one corner to the other. Reflections from the window glass was another hitch.

The farthest point is where the state Governor has his residence followed by residential area known as Malbar Hill. The stretch of beach is Girgaum Chowpatty, near my house and from where I've shot many pictures. On the right side is another residential area known as Marine drive. In the early days the road lights had gas lamps and was known as the Queen's necklace.

Hershy > Reaching for the sky (Pic 28 2nd year)

Shot by son Jay with D700, 24-85 f2.8 -4 lens at ISO 2500 f3.5 & 1/80 sec

This is the long cable-stayed bridge in the Bandra-Worli sea link. The height of the cable-stayed tower is 126m, which is equal to a 43-storey tower, The length of steel wires used in the project is equivalent to the circumference of the Earth & each cable can take a weight of 900 tons.

Lady K - It was the first time on the bridge and roads were wet with earlier rain. I had no choice but to concentrate on driving SLOWLY so that Jay could shoot! :)

Hershy > Garden (Pic 31 2nd year)

Part of cousin's garden from first (second for US!) floor. What struck me was the different tones of green with the splash of mauve in the middle. The spiky ones are Yucca and the mauve in the background are Mellitia Ovalifolia or Mellitia Blue.

EDIT 12 July - The bird on the left is a peacock.

Thank you all for your comments. This was shot during a wedding in the family and I noticed this 'decoration' on the side board and shot it 'on-the-run' while shooting a few pictures of a small ceremony.

Hershy > Indian puppets (067 - Mar 09)

On my last trip to Jaipur, we stayed at Rajputana Sheraton hotel. A shop was selling handicrafts, mainly mobiles and puppets. The string Indian puppets are hand made and very colourful.

Hershy > Spooky? (Pic 34 2nd year)
D700 24-85 2.8-4 ISO 1600 f4 1/15

Shot late evening on Sunday. This house is in a by lane near my house and the gate was lit by the street light. During processing I lightened the dark parts a bit to show details of the gate and the iron arch but son Jay thought this unprocessed image looked better, a bit spooky! So this is almost (a bit of a crop) SOOC. I may add that in real life the building is not so sinister looking! :-)

comments - reactions welcome!
