Hershy > Bharatnatyam Dancers (130 - 2009)
D300 ISO 400 f5.6 1/60 18-105mm lens

The dinner following the engagement of Romita & Wilson had performances by local dancers. Here two young dancers are awaiting their turn.

Bharatanatyam is a classic dance form originating in Tamil Nadu, a state in Southern India and is also the National Dance of India. This dance form denotes various 19th and 20th century reconstructions of Cathir, the art of temple dancers. Cathir in turn, is derived from ancient dance forms. Bharatanatyam is usually accompanied by the classical Carnatic music.

Hershy > View from the main lounge (018 - Jan 19)
D300 17-55mm ISO 200 f8 1/500

Our first stop in Sri Lanka was Galle, the southern beach town. We stayed at the Fortress, an exquisite hotel with a fortress type of a facade. The architecture inside had Dutch and Portuguese styles. Situated next to the blue waters of the Indian Ocean it had a lot of open space and the rooms were also very spacious. A gym, a spa, a swimming pool over looking the sea and lush greenery made this a perfect place to relax after a day around the city.

Hershy > Wedding ceremony (001 2nd year)
no PP except a bit of light control

I have been busy with yet another wedding! My friend's daughter got married yesterday and I took some pics on D300 with 18-105 lens. It was good to hold a camera after so many days! But the back did act up a bit later on! :(

During the ceremony the bride's right foot is "washed " with milk by the mother. You can see the milk under her foot in the silver tray. The design on the leg is from the mehendi applied 2 days ago. The table underneath is silver plated! :)

Hershy > Sunset at Vembanad Lake (136 - 2009)

At Kerala, hosts Daksha & Prem had organised boat rides for the guests on Vembanad Lake (Vembanad Kayal or Vembanad Kol), India's longest lake and also one of the largest lakes here. The Vembanad wetland system covers an area of over 1512 km and is approximately 14 kilometres wide at its widest point..

The ride was along the coast with a lot of greenery, something that Kerala is famous for. We also saw a couple of Houseboats on the way. With overcast sky the sunset was not a clear one. It was still scenic though!

This shot is by son Jay.
