Hershy > Indian puppets (067 - Mar 09)

On my last trip to Jaipur, we stayed at Rajputana Sheraton hotel. A shop was selling handicrafts, mainly mobiles and puppets. The string Indian puppets are hand made and very colourful.

Hershy > Spooky? (Pic 34 2nd year)
D700 24-85 2.8-4 ISO 1600 f4 1/15

Shot late evening on Sunday. This house is in a by lane near my house and the gate was lit by the street light. During processing I lightened the dark parts a bit to show details of the gate and the iron arch but son Jay thought this unprocessed image looked better, a bit spooky! So this is almost (a bit of a crop) SOOC. I may add that in real life the building is not so sinister looking! :-)

comments - reactions welcome!

Hershy > Looking down (219 28 Dec)
Tintagel Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
D300 17-55 lens ISO 1000 f5.6 1/8 - Flash at Slow sync

Dave, thanks for commenting on this pic in Colombo gallery!

This is the view from the first floor (second for USA!) of the Tintagel hotel. We were on a 'tour' of the rooms and I had to hurry to cover the interesting decors of each room and other places. The green on the two orbs is sort of a lawn! Shooting was difficult because of the low light and I did not like the straight flash shot so used it with Slow Sync at a low speed.

Do have a look at the rooms and the courtyard at

Hershy > Roses (Pic 46 2nd year)

Shot with 60mm Nikkor macro in January at Mahabaleshwar.
No PP except for little light adjustment.

EDIT NOTE:
Mom4squirrels: Someone wanted to sell the Nikkor 60mm so I had taken it to try it out. I had also tried my cousin's 105 mm which is a top-class lens but rather expensive. Then Bill Pador suggested Tamron 90mm f2.8 which was half the price of 105! I bought that and am more than satisfied with that, thanks Bill! :) On a personal level, I have always been happy with 90-105 range for close-ups.
