Hershy > At night (022 - Jan 23)

D300 17-55mm ISO 800 f5.6 2 sconds

The Fortress used to be lit up at night and the reflections added to its beauty. This was shot after a dinner on the deck and the camera was rested on the dinning table. I used the Live View to frame the shot. The angle was a bit crooked so had to straighten it and bring out details in a few dark areas. There is another shot in the gallery but I selected this as it has less of foreground and the people are bit more visible.

Hershy > Gray Langur (Pic 22 2nd year)
shot at Kandalama,Sri Lanka with D300 ISO 400 f6.3 1/40 (hand held)
It was a dull gray morning and light was poor at 7.15 AM

The gray langurs are a group of Old World monkeys and make up the entirety of the genus Semnopithecus. Gray langurs are large and fairly terrestrial, inhabiting open wooded habitats and urban areas on the Indian subcontinent. When only one species was recognized, it was also called the Hanuman Langur (named after the Hindu vanara divinity Hanuman), the Common Langur and the Entellus Langur. In Sri Lanka, it is natively known as the Wandura

Thank you all for your comments at Bill's 'photo page' and individual e-mails offering words of strength, solidarity and sympathy. Bill, thanks once again for everything. I am at work but felt like being in the company of friends here at Daily gallery, it seems to have therapeutic value! Thanks Smugmug!!

All the terrorists are reported killed and a couple of them are captured alive. In the past, Mumbai has suffered bomb blasts and other terrorist attacks but this was unique as it hit at certain people & sections and lasted almost 60 hours. Citizens of Mumbai are known to be resilient and have bounced back to normal life in the past but this time it may take a longer time but we WILL get back to normal life not allowing the terrorists to disrupt our lives!

It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words and this photo, shot on a street in Colombo; of a mosque and a Christian centre, serving the people side-by-side, symbolizes the current state of affairs.

Shishir a friend from US has sent this link with some great pictures- do have a look:

Hershy > Reaching for the sky (Pic 28 2nd year)

Shot by son Jay with D700, 24-85 f2.8 -4 lens at ISO 2500 f3.5 & 1/80 sec

This is the long cable-stayed bridge in the Bandra-Worli sea link. The height of the cable-stayed tower is 126m, which is equal to a 43-storey tower, The length of steel wires used in the project is equivalent to the circumference of the Earth & each cable can take a weight of 900 tons.

Lady K - It was the first time on the bridge and roads were wet with earlier rain. I had no choice but to concentrate on driving SLOWLY so that Jay could shoot! :)

Hershy > Garden (Pic 31 2nd year)

Part of cousin's garden from first (second for US!) floor. What struck me was the different tones of green with the splash of mauve in the middle. The spiky ones are Yucca and the mauve in the background are Mellitia Ovalifolia or Mellitia Blue.

EDIT 12 July - The bird on the left is a peacock.

Thank you all for your comments. This was shot during a wedding in the family and I noticed this 'decoration' on the side board and shot it 'on-the-run' while shooting a few pictures of a small ceremony.
