Hershy > Happy Diwali! (184 28th Oct) Last Sunday around 7.30 pm, I shot these shops near my house. Shot on Canon IXY 910 IS with ISO around 200 and f3.5 with speeds between 1/8 to 1/20 and one with 1/60 (hand held). No PP except for crop and a bit of light adjustment. Diwali or Deepavali, a significant festival is celebrated in India, especially by Hindus, Jains & Sikhs. For Hindus & Jains, Diwali also means the end of the Indian calendar year. Diwali means Festival of Lights, where the lights or lamps signify victory of good over the evil within every human being. People put up Diyas (oil lamps) on the balconies & windows, make elaborate designs on floors (normally near entrances) with coloured powder. Shops are lit up and there is a festive feel all around. On the new year (Wednesday 29th this year) people visit relatives & friends exchanging wishes for the coming year. Hershy > Petronas Towers (181 25th Oct) Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia D200 & 18-70mm. No PP except for light adjustment. This was shot a few hours before the one put up yesterday and shows only one tower. The twin towers are better viewed and much photographed from the other side but I thought of having a different view. The Petronas Twin Towers (also known as the Petronas Towers or Twin Towers), in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia were the world's tallest buildings, before being surpassed by the Taipei 101. Hershy > Momo Botan (Nelumbo nucifera) (Lotus from Thailand) (179 23rd Oct) Shot at cousin's garden with D300 & 70-200 f2.8 NO PP except light adjustment. Momo Botan is one of the best blooming lotuses. The flowers are double pink and can be between 5 to 6" (although I think the ones I saw were much bigger!) and leaves are about 12" and stand about 2' high.
