Mahabaleshwar 2009 : Mahabaleshwar is a hill station near Pune (120 km - 75 mi) and (285 km - 177 mi) from Mumbai. It served as the summer capital of Bombay province during the British Raj. Mahabaleshwar is a vast plateau measuring 150 km2 (58 sq mi), bound by valleys on all sides. It reaches a height of 1,438 m (4,720 ft) at its highest peak above sea level, known as Wilson/Sunrise Point. It is a popular holiday resort and honeymoon spot, and an important pilgrimage site for Hindus. In the ancient temple of Mahadev in Old Mahabaleshwar 4 other rivers come out from the cow (bull's) mouth apart from Krishna and they all travel some distance before merging into Krishna. These rivers are the Koyana, Venna(Veni), Savitri, and Gayatri.

Pawna Lake weekend : We spent a weekend at this spacious & beautiful retreat at Pawna with a spectacular view of the valley and the huge Pawna lake. Situated 10 kms from Lonavala, Pawna Lake (Pavna Lake) is an artificial lake formed by the Pawna Dam built across the Pawna River. The lake attracts many tourists due to its imposing natural ambiance and cool climate. From the dam site one can view the majestic sights of Tungi, Logagarh and Tikona forts.

A few shots are from the lake side. There are a two Panoramic & one HDR images - my first attempt! Do look forward to your comments!

Glass House on Ganges- Rishikesh : Glass House on the Ganges & Rishikesh
Located 23 kms. above Rishikesh on the route to Badrinath, the Glasshouse is a Neemrana chain and used to be the orchard of The Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal and has six cottages over looking the Ganga (Ganges).

Himalayas, Ganges, Pilgrimage, Spa, Rafting, Ayurvedic Treatment, Yoga, Meditation, Nature, Camping.... if there is one word for all these, it's "Rishikesh"!

About Rishikesh
Rishikesh - known as the "City of the Divine"- is a spiritual center to which sages, rishis, saints and pilgrims have flocked for millennia. The roads of the city are lined with bustling market places of ethnic arts and handicrafts, fresh produce markets, holy shrines and orange -robed sadhus (priests). Then, the road narrows, the markets become more sparse and you come upon a foot bridge, suspended high over the sacred Ganga (Ganges) river. As you cross this bridge, the sun streaming through the Himalayas to warm your being, you will feel as if you have truly come home. It is no surprise that pilgrims are drawn here from all over the world. The awe-inspiring beauty of the place, the clear, flowing Ganga, the majestic mountains, and the lush green forests will embrace and rejuvenate your entire being.

Mussoorie : Mussoorie is located in the Garhwal hills. Due to its immense natural beauty, Mussoorie is known as the queen of hill stations. In 1820 Captain Young from the British army was influenced by the beauty of this place and made this place his residence. This marked the foundation of a hill station called Mussoorie. The name, Mussoorie, is derived from plants of 'Mussoorie' which were found in abundance here. After its discovery, this hill station gradually developed as a center of education, business, tourism and beauty.
