Hershy > Cleaning up!(196 01 Dec)
Leica Digilux jpg shot ISO 200 f5.6 no PP

Office building in downtown opposite the Oberoi hotel. I was drawn to this building because of the window cleaners & the blue facade. There are some more pictures with different perspectives here:

Hershy > Downtown Mumbai (195 30th Nov)

Shot with Leica Digilux 2 - no PP except for light correction.

This was shot the day I attended Zubin Mehta's concert rehearsal in October. The concert hall is situated in downtown Mumbai, just across the street from the Oberoi and Trident hotels. The two hotels are linked by a corridor and Trident was one of the three places that the terrorists attacked five days back. The white building on left is the back side of the Oberoi and flush next to is the Trident Oberoi - earlier known as Oberoi Sheraton. Trident is taller than the Oberoi but because of the perspective and the angle the two buildings appear of same height. The black building is Indian Express towers and the last is Air India building.

I found this spot quite interesting and took a few pictures. I selected this one, as in addition to the basic scene, I found the tree, the shadows, the reflections quite interesting.

Colombo, Sri Lanka

Thank you all for your comments at Bill's 'photo page' and individual e-mails offering words of strength, solidarity and sympathy. Bill, thanks once again for everything. I am at work but felt like being in the company of friends here at Daily gallery, it seems to have therapeutic value! Thanks Smugmug!!

All the terrorists are reported killed and a couple of them are captured alive. In the past, Mumbai has suffered bomb blasts and other terrorist attacks but this was unique as it hit at certain people & sections and lasted almost 60 hours. Citizens of Mumbai are known to be resilient and have bounced back to normal life in the past but this time it may take a longer time but we WILL get back to normal life not allowing the terrorists to disrupt our lives!

It's said that a picture is worth a thousand words and this photo, shot on a street in Colombo; of a mosque and a Christian centre, serving the people side-by-side, symbolizes the current state of affairs.

Shishir a friend from US has sent this link with some great pictures- do have a look:

Hershy > White House? (193 26th Nov)
Colombo, Sri Lanka
Shot with D300 & 17-55 2.8

The building's design style was taken from the U.S. President's White House.

27th November 2008 - Yesterday was a horrible day for my city Mumbai when terrorists stormed several places killing more than 120 people and injuring hundreds more. They took many hostages and the siege - after 12 hours - is going on. We are all safe but badly shaken up. Thank you all for your messages of concern and please pardon me if I can't reply individually. I am in NO mood to put up my daily entry and hope you all will understand...

Hershy > Off to Rebak island - Langkawi, Malaysia. (190 3rdNov)
D200 18-70mm

Friends, I am taking the liberty of a second post for today to inform you that Swarup my wife and I leave for Sri Lanka tomorrow and will return on 13th evening. Unfortunately it's not a family vacation as Jay & Vinati cannot take that many days off from work!

Tomorrow we will also finish 34 years being together - don't know how we have (mainly, she has) survived! ;-)
And no it's not our second/third/ honeymoon as we are going with friends, not that they are not romantic!

Please excuse me as I may not be able to comment today and till I return as I don't carry a notebook with me.

Cheers till then!!
